California Spangled Appearance
The California Spangled is a medium size, cat with an alert and wild expression. This breed is one of the rarest domesticated cat breeds. They have strong, tubular body; short spotted coat and “hunter-like” gait giving the illusion of a small leopard. Their eyes are almond in shape and pale amber to deep copper in color. The head is broad with a well developed muzzle and contoured, sculpted cheekbones. The ears are medium size and rounded and their tail is moderately long, with thickness at the base equal to that at the tip. The weight of the California Spangled is 8 to 15 pounds.
The California Spangled cat has a short and soft coat, except on the tail and belly where the fur is longer. The most common colors are bronze, gold, blue, brown, charcoal, red, black, silver, and white. The spots are well-defined, in dark contrast to the coat color.
California Spangled Temperament
In spite of its wild look, California Spangled Cats have very affectionate and devoted temperament. Their favorite hobby is spending time in an interactive play with humans. They are Active, curious, and social. They love to become energetic member of your family that always knows what's going on around. They love high spots and perches, so be prepared to find your dear companion gazing at you from the top of doors, wardrobes, fridges, book shelves, etc. California Spangled Cats are very intelligent and friendly, and usually get along well with other cats, even though they don't mind being the only cat in the house.
Is California Spangled the right Breed for You?
The California Spangled cat is best paired with an owner that is present everyday. Someone who is out of town a great deal, or who wants a cat that is more shy and retiring should not choose this breed. Families with children over five would be a great home for a California Spangled cat, as smaller children tend to not know their own strength and may harass the cat into defending itself. The California Spangled cat is highly energetic and is recommended for active owners.

California Spangled Health Problems
Though the California Spangled Cat is susceptible to common ailments to which all cats are susceptible, there are no major known health concerns with this breed.
California Spangled Care and Grooming
The California Spangled cat requires weekly grooming and regular brushing may be needed. Brush them three times a week with a pig-bristle brush to help manage their coat. When the cat is shedding can be very useful a rubber brush or massage to get their loose hair out of the coat. Bathing is optional. The California Spangled cats should not be bathed more often than once every six weeks to keep their skin from drying out. It is recommended for all cats and household pets to have annual vaccinations, veterinary checkups, and a quality diet. Keep the ears clean and their claws trim.
California Spangled Shedding
The California Spangled are average shedder; you'll find hair stuck to your couch, carpets, clothes and everything else in your home, therefore is not best suited for those with allergies.
